Prem Jain's Pensando to be acquired by AMD for $1.9 Billion
Pensando was founded by Prem Jain, a BITSian from the graduating batch of 1973, along with 4 others, in 2017 and since then, there has been no looking back.
What do they do?
They specialise in distributed computing to transform existing architectures into the secure, ultra-fast environments demanded by today's applications. Some of their key USPS include a fully programmable processor, which helps enterprise clients and data centre customers perform similarly to cloud computing data centres like Amazon's AWS.
Pensando has many great and robust partnerships with fortune 500 companies, like Goldman Sachs, Microsoft’s Azure platform to NetApps and much more.
Prem Jain’s Legacy
The legacy that Pensando built lies in the abilities of its founders. After graduating with honours in EE, Prem Jain continued his masters in EECS at the University of California, Davis.
Further to this, he worked for Cisco for a solid 18+ years of his professional life, holding top positions of repute and developing a plethora of disruptive technologies for them, giving him the niche to conquer this field; currently holding the role of the CEO at the firm.
AMD’s acquisition of Pensando
The acquisition by AMD struck the interests of multiple people in the valley, with the trade being worth over $1.9 Billion. The deal, which would enable AMD to add Pensando's platform to its processors and graphics chips line, is expected to close in the second quarter of this year.
The entire Pensando team will join AMD's Data Center Solutions Group at the end of this acquisition.
